Fiona Veitch Smith

Fiona Veitch Smith writes Golden Age cosy crime novels and is the author of the Miss Clara Vale Mysteries and the Poppy Denby Investigates series. 

 

Her novels have been shortlisted for the prestigious Crime Writers' Association Historical Dagger Award, the Foreword Review Mystery Novel of the Year and the People's Book Prize.

 

A former journalist, Fiona has also written for theatre, short film and podcasts, and started out her creative career writing children’s picture books. She is a board member of the Crime Writers' Association, and regularly appears at crime writing events.

 

Her books are published by Bonnier Books UK. Her latest novel featuring Miss Clara Vale, a stylish lady detective at the cutting edge of forensic science, is The Berlin Murders (January 2026), set in Berlin in 1930 on the eve of the Third Reich.
