Fiona Veitch Smith writes Golden Age cosy crime novels. In 2016 she was shortlisted for the prestigious Crime Writers' Association Historical Dagger Award for The Jazz Files, the first in her popular 'Poppy Denby Investigates' 1920s crime series.
As a journalist she worked on the arts and crime beats of a Cape Town newspaper, and subsequently lectured in journalism in the UK for ten years. She holds a Bachelor of Journalism, a BA in History and an MA in Creative Writing. Alongside her writing, she works as a freelance editor and writing tutor, and is the former assistant secretary of the Crime Writers’ Association. She lives in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The Picture House Murders, the first title in her new 'Miss Clara Vale' mystery series for Embla/Bonnier Books UK was published in August 2023 and will be followed by The Pantomime Murders in November 2023 and The Pyramid Murders in May 2024.
