Claire Heywood is a scholar of the ancient world, with a BA in Classical Civilisation and an MA in Ancient Visual and Material Culture from the University of Warwick.
Having recently signed a 2-book deal with Hodder & Stoughton, her debut novel Daughters of Sparta will be published in May 2021. US rights were bought by Dutton after a hotly-contested auction, and translation rights have been sold in multiple languages.
Daughters of Sparta is a vivid and illuminating reimagining of the story of the Siege of Troy from the perspectives of the infamous Helen and her sister Klytemnestra. It is a compelling story of female experience in a world of death and danger, sacrifice and loss.
